I called a toll-free number that is advertised with the cruise. I think that that particular agency has exclusive rights to book. The Gaither organization has the whole boat and there is a lot of music throughout the week. I have wanted to do this for years, and though it is tempting to go on another cruise that would be cheaper and perhaps sail out of San Francisco (close to me), I know I'd always be disappointed that I didn't do the Gaither cruise.

I wonder how bad the noise is on the lower level really. I mean, would it wake us up at night? One of the other few rooms left was on the main deck by an elevator. I think I should have chosen that one, but who knows? I guess I'll just be older and wiser now.

You will have a wonderful and memorable cruise to Alaska with the Gaithers! I doubt that you will be spending a whole lot of time in your cabin...you will want to be where the "action" is....whether it's outside viewing the wonderful Alaska landscape or inside with those wonderful Christian sisters and brothers.

    Don't sweat the small stuff

I LOVE Alaska! Been there 5 times and would go again in a heartbeat!

Thank you Char! I am trying to remember that even if some things aren't "perfect," my husband and I will still have a great time. I appreciate your encouragement!

I think I remember that on the other cruise I took, someone was not happy with their cabin on a lower level because there was a lot of engine noise. Has anyone experienced this?

We do have a window with full view. I am on a waiting list for a veranda, but this is a very popular Gaither Homecoming cruise, and I don't think the veranda will happen.

Does anyone have any advice? Thanks!
We just got off the Amsterdam earlier this week. We were on Dolphin Deck, Cabin 1857, and DH commented that our cabin was much quieter than the one we'd had on a higher deck on Celebrity. Overall, the location worked out great for us.

As a travel agent, I have found that waitlists do work part of the time. However, that being said, I would advise that you check with the agency that is booking this charter about ever two to three days. You might get lucky and find a cancellation. I have had this happen on other cruise lines when I have been trying to get a sold-out category for a client. Good luck. I have seen the Gaithers sing and they are great.

I just wanted to follow up and say that our room on the Dolphin Deck was quiet and we had such a wonderful time! I would not hesitate to book again on that deck, at least not from the standpoint of engine noise or any other type of noise. Thanks for all who gave input!

I was on the A deck (the lowest passenger deck) on the Holland America Veendam and loved it. We were at the front of the ship and did hear them raising and lowering the anchors a few times but that was the limit of the noise. One advantage of the dolphin deck- looking out the windows you are close to the water. It is a magnificent sight especially at night with the luminescence off the water.
