Thanks for the heads-up about not reporting a minor illness to the ship's doctor/nurse. I'm fortunate in that I have a cast-iron constitution and am never sick. But Mrs. Cholula frequently suffers from motion sickness. We'll make sure we self-medicate in the future.

I got a really bad sinus infection the morning we were to fly from St Petersburg to Moscow. It was like an act of Congress to get the doctor to see me first thing in the morning. No answer at the doctor's phone so we had to go to the front desk, then back to our room to wait for a call from the doctor. We waited a long time but nobody called (now we're running late) so we had to bother them at the front desk again, the nurse finally called us saying sorry, the doctor was asleep...to which I gave a firm but polite response...and then another huge hassle when I finally got in to see him to get the doctor to give me antibiotics. I had the sinus infection before, and I knew that was exactly what I needed. When I finally convinced him to give them to me, and after getting a stern lecture on antibiotic abuse, the doctor announced he absolutely FORBIDS me to get on that plane, since it could make it flare up really bad. Sorry, I said, I came all this way and I am going on that plane. So I did!

You'll have to check the contract with your cruise line, but since they are still providing all your meals (via room service) and the cabin you contracted WITH regular cleaning, etc., they probably met their obligations. It would be very hard to get a reimbursement unless you could prove that they were quarantining you for a non-contagious condition.
