I think if the group is just part of the passengers, it would be okay as long as public areas of the ship aren't off limits to everyone. If their events are in a lounge a few times during the cruise or in a meeting room, if it's a large enough ship, then that's okay. A couple of cruises ago, there was a group involved with some medical technology (cardiac care, I think). It was on the Sapphire Princess and for the most part, I don't think their meetings and events were noticed by most of the other passengers. But it was a big enough ship, and the rooms they took over weren't a big deal. And the people we met who were with this group seemed pretty nice.
With the bingo group, it was a whole other matter. They were crazy (not to offend anyone who might be into bingo, but if you've seen the behavior of some of these people...)
