Does anyone know much about mal de debarkment syndrome.
The Jackson clinic said that there are some medications that are effective.

Cruising is a wonderful way to enjoy retirement!!
Stopped counting after 110 cruises.

Yonnie, that syndrome is what some folks have after they get OFF the ship. The dizziness and feeling of movement beneath their feet. It can be quite bothersome and last as long as 6 months, I've heard.
Chaine, sorry, but I don't have any personal experience with this malady, but if you are suffering from it I hope you get relief soon.
Wow I didn't know that stuff had a name.I actually kind of like it. It's nice when I'm at work and I feel like I'm back on the boat (no dizziness though). If I just close my eyes and ignore the customers, it's almost the same thing.

I am sure I had that after our last cruise. It lasted many months. I, too, didn't know it had a name, and a French one at that!
I also didn't know it had a name thats quite interesting to know.

Usually I get home and have that sensation for about 2 days. I am glad that I have never had it any longer. I was reading somewhere the other day that it can last longer than 6 months.

What helps me is to get on any type of boat (even a paddle boat or row boat) with some motion of the water -- immediate relief!![]()

I always called it land sickness, I sometimes have it for one or two nights once I'm home.
But there is another aspect of Mal de Debarkment that takes months to get over... thats the part where I miss the bed being made for me every day and the toilet being cleaned, and the fun and games and the dining room service and the food and shows. I hear the only cure for that part is to book another cruise!!!

Chaine,
Ginger works well with no side effect for seasickness, perhaps it might work for what you are going through.
