    Hi,

I couldn't find it on the Boot's Chemist's website, but that doesn't mean it isn't available. It could be sold in the UK under a different name. Bonine is the trade name for Meclizine HCl 25 mg, if you want to ask your own chemist.

Boots did offer several alternatives for "travel sickness", so you should be able to find something that works for you.

    MCcruiser,

Thanks for your prompt and helpful reply.
My wife swears by her travel bands, but I thought I would take extra precautions, after reading the various threads on sea sickness on West/East Transatlantic crossings and the possibility of excessive ship movement.

I don't know what they have in the UK, but we have something called motionless sea bands that you wear around your wrist. I have clients that swear by them!

IrishKat, that's probably what rula's wife has been using, since she swears by THEM.

rula40, I've been told that most of the pursers have some over-the-counter meds that they give out to passengers, but I agree it's always good to come prepared, in case they run out.

The Wrist/Travel bands my wife uses are available in most chemists and at airports they are simply an elasticated wristband with a small raised plastic bobble which is supposed to put pressure on the inside of your wrist thus having a acupressure effect on the spot that is believed to relieve motion sickness.

We always have a pair in the car for when I get lost and she has to read the map whilst the car is moving.

My husband tried using just Bonine and it didn't work for him...he resorted to using the patch you put behind your ear for the cruise and it worked wonderfully! You can only get it from a physician though.
