    Sea sick patch

Leaving on my 1st cruise next week and got a script from my
doctor for the patch. Has anyone used it before and if so how
did you like it. My doctor told me that it had less side effects
than the pills, is that correct or should I use something else.
I also wondered if the wrist bands worked??

Becareful drinking booze while using the patches

Also ginger pills you get at the heath food stores works really well! My 2 daughters swear by them, they like fresh ginger chunks more but said the ginger pills work too.

They got pickled ginger in a jar and cut small pieces off and swallowed it whole, as its not very tasty LOL They said that works within minutes

I haven't tried the wrist bands but found one in my cabin once. Haven't tried the patch either but I see lots of people wearing them onboard.
Doctor has given me a script for a pill on our last 2 cruises, but I haven't needed them. We had some pretty rough waters on the way back to San Pedro from Mexico but still felt fine. The ships are so big that it's easy to stay comfortable.

Chellee (starfish girl) .... PLEASE, PLEASE consider the very likely possibility that you will NOT get seasick!

I've used the patch and had really good results with it. I didn't feel motion sick at all. My only caution is to only change them every three days, not a moment earlier. I put a new one on after two days because it fell off. My vision became slightly blurred after that. If you use the patch as directed, you shouldn't have that problem.

I used the patch on my first cruise (I tended to get motion sick in the car, so I was expecting the worst). I had such a bad reaction that I ended up spending my first SailAway in my cabin, asleep. Then, I was so disoriented ... and the dry mouth! I didn't start to feel better, until the patch fell off. It turned out that I didn't need it. Even in rough waters, I've been fine.

My sister used the patch last week, and immediately experienced the blurry vision and headaches. The patch came off and she was fine.

I recommending trying it without the patch, first, and only use it if you start feeling ill.
    Coming up:
Radiance of the Seas - Hawaii
Monarch - Baja (getting in the cruises B4 she's gone)
    Independence - Transatlantic

Previous cruise we were so afraid of getting sick, we used the patches the whole time. They made us feel like crap, but not nauseous which was our goal. This time we did Bonine & Seabands; didn't get sick or tired;could drink- much better way to go. Our ship was huge, and seas weren't rough. I'd try Bonine first, keep patch as a back-up. Used the Seabands at dinner and in the lounges at front of boat where you feel it more.

My mother went on her one and only cruise a few years ago in her late 70s. She's so suspectible to motion sickness -- planes, boats, buses, etc. My sister talked her into a cruise and she got the patch. Didn't have any problems.

Thanks for all the replys---just got back from 1st cruise and I
must say no sea sickness at all just missing the ship sickness!!!
The first night and 2nd day out I used the wrist bands and I am
not sure if they did anything or not because once I took them off
    I was fine anyway.
