If You Were Ill Would You Get on The Ship?

I'm curious with the Noro virus going around again. If you knew you had a stomach illness of some sort would you get on the ship? I stated elsewhere that I wouldn't because I always buy insurance. I've thought since then, I should make sure the travel insurance covers that. I would also think that the cruiseline would be grateful and work with you on it. When we went on the Sapphire Princess, they had us sign waivers that we had no stomach problems. Would anyone say yes if they did?

It would be very difficult to give up a cruise that has been on your agenda for months and for some, over a year with all the preplanning, looking forward to it, counting the days. Instead of it being a virus, what if the stomach problem was a touch of reaction to a food product, how would you know? Don't know if I'd avoid the ship. I should be gallant and say I would not get on, but honestly don't know what I'd do. Sure would be upset if I stood on shore and watched my ship sail away, and within a few hours I felt okay.

You hit the nail on the head when you said that. How would you know? It could be anything.

I'll probably get killed for this, but I am being honest!! Years before it had a name, my grandchildren both got it at the end of the cruise!! I know what it is!! If I felt like that No, I would not go!! If I felt ill, not that, I would board but stay in my cabin with room service till better, it would still be better than being at home!!
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

If I'm throwing up and/or have diarrehea there is no way I would board. If I'm sick like that, I want to be at home in my own bed not on a cruise ship where I'm confined to a small room and possibly subjected to rough seas which could make it worse.

Boy oh boy it would be so hard to let the ship sail off without me! If I was sick really bad though I probably wouldn't want to go. I would hope the cruise line would work with you to compensate for missing the trip though. I don't think insurance would cover, unless you got some kind of medical intervention, then it might.

I go to work when not feeling well, why wouldn't I cruise when not feeling well. Depends on the symptoms, but most "stuff" only lasts a few days. Living in the cold north, I would be on the sun deck baking it out of me!!!
The viruses on the ships go around the work places too, anywhere where there are lots of people. I usually don't catch anything, wash my hands a lot. Guess I am kind of indifferent since I work around lots of viruses. or at least I used to.
I would really hate to miss a cruise and I know how to keep my "bugs" to myself and not spread them around. I probably shouldn't admit this but it's how I feel.

I am also not sure what I would do.

I was trying to think of the last time I missed worked because I was ill.
I think it was in 1996 and they would not let me out of the CCU.

I would have to be pretty ill to not get on the ship.

When I got out of the CCU, I was on a ship 2 days later...

I have to say "It would depend". A couple of years ago, we got on the ship when my husband was feeling LOUSY. He had drank a really bad beer the day before, and it was starting to do its magic. Several hours later, I brought him to the ship's doctor, who gave him some imodium and told him to stay away from food for a day, and then eat yogurt. DH was right as rain within 24 hours.

If I thought I had something that a day of relaxation and no stress would help with, I'd probably go. But if I thought that I would only be spending most of the trip in my cabin, I would try to cancel. No sense going on a cruise if I can't go to the dining room!! (just my opinion)
