Carnival Cruise

written by QM2Nerd posted on 21/07/12

Hello all, I am the same reviewer as before, but changed the way I do a review. I have decided to only review ships I have sailed on, or ships I think I can provide an alternative perspective on.

With that said, I went on the Carnival ship a while ago, and the cruise was "ok". The ship was seemingly ignored from a maintenance viewpoint, the staff forgetful and sometimes rude, the food tasty, but the dining experience interrupted with updates on the screaming Public announcement system on the status of our Red and Blue teams, both of which I could not care less for. The point of a cruise I believe is not to compete with other fellow cruisers, but to escape the stresses of life, enjoy your time on the beautiful sea, and have an aventure you can remember in gray hair on your porch.

As with all of the members of Carnival's World's Leading Cruise Lines, a group of cruise Lines meant to represent a specifc culture and country, (Cunard Britain, Costa Italy, etc). Carnival no doubt is American, which is good, very nice to see the old red white and blue on the funnel colors of the uniforms, and other hints seen throughout. But what isnt nice, is seeing hairy chest contests, (yes for men and women) out on deck. Maybe its just me, but I think that is a waste of time. With the loud cruise director awarding pepole near the pools, it was intrusive, not being able to hear the voice in my own head as I watched the foaming sea glide underneath the white elephant ship.

Though Carnival is deemed "the fun ships" I urge cruisers to book with caution. Despite all that though, it was a safe, clean comfortable and easy get away. out of 6 anchors (my version of star rating for cruise ships,) I give the Elation a 4/6 :)

Embarkation was much easier in New Orleans this time than it has been in the past. Was doing this cruise to make up for my wife's letting me do a transatlantic cruise by myself back in November of 2011 on RCCL's Voyager of the Seas. (She didn't want ...

A Valentine's Cruise on the Carnival Elation

Of all our past cruises, this as the first where we actually were sailing for Valentine's Day, and it was a wonderful way to celebrate romance. We had an aft (but not aft-FACING) oceanview cabin on the Main Deck, that was a great size for a 5-day crui...

Elation cruise July 9-13, 2007

I was not looking forward to this cruise because I was traveling with 2 old friends (3 of us total) in a windowless room. And I had a less than okay attitude toward Carnival. Check in was pretty effortless. I hated Tiffany's cafeteria where we went...
