Bermuda on Explorer OTS

written by tonylinsdell posted on 25/11/11

A quite detailed diary of events is contained in Cruise Reports - Explorer to Bermuda.

The inside cabin was probably the smallest we have ever experienced , the placement of the bed made it awkward to walk around. Other than that it was reasonable.

The food in the main dining room was excellent no complaints at all. We were in 'MY Time' dining but had the same table and wait staff every evening. They staff were excellent, even the wine waiter chatted to us every night even though he knew after the first night that we didn't drink.

There were lots of Children on board that we didn't see so they must have been well occupied.

The one excursion we had booked was cancelled due to high winds in Bermuda.

The entertainment and activities were so-so, nothing to write home about, except the top two dancers who were marvelous and taught dance class.

Didn't use the sports facilities unless you count the Rock Wall climb which was good fun.

The weather was quite rough except on the last sea day, due to a depression over Bermuda. Bermuda itself was interesting and we will go back again for a longer stay to explore it further.

I didn't like the Royal Promenade, found it too crowded, and not very interesting, especially when the shops put their tables outside. The big dance floor in the Maharajas lounge was not used for dancing which was quite annoying to me. The best ballroom dance music was played on the smallest dance floor. Overall the cruise was enjoyable but I personally wouldn't sail in the Explorer class ships again.
