Great Cruise!

written by mechcc posted on 08/12/10

What a great cruise on a great ship! This was a cruise to celebrate ?life? as it was our first after a very serious accident that left DH disabled. We did spoil ourselves. We had cabin 7049 which is a deluxe verandah suite directly across the passageway from the Neptune lounge on the starboard side. Location was great and made it easy to pop in to the Neptune for snacks or check on reservations. Concierge service was great and attentive.

We did spoil ourselves with a retreat cabana and would do that again in a heartbeat. It was wonderful to have a semi-private place to go to enjoy the outdoors. Not to mention that we were spoiled rotten by Tommy.

We ate breakfast 4 times at the Pinnacle (Deluxe Verandah Suite perk) four times and loved it. Once ordered room service and it was delivered on time. Lunch was either done in the Retreat cabana or Lido and both were good. We ate dinner in the MDR the first 2 nights and did the anytime dining. We will always try to get traditional dining in the future. Felt like we were at Chilie?s with the constant clearing of tables, rush service, and lack of getting to know our servers. Our mistake and can understand many like this type of service to eat anytime. Just not for us.

We did the Pinnacle one night and had Anita and Parmond for service. Excellent! The food was just as good as we remembered from our last cruise on HAL in 2006. The next night we did the La Cirque dinner in the Pinnacle. Food was good, service was excellent. But not worth the extra $19 per person above the normal Pinnacle experience. Also had the excellent service of Anita and Parmond that night.

Had the opportunity to do Tamarind ? that was the best meal we had on this cruise and may even be the best meal ever on a cruise. Service was beyond good. This was one of the extra cost items we were not going to do. However, we will always do this in the future.

Canaletto ? we ate there the last night. Just okay. Vodka Penna is just okay. Take it or leave it. Nice change but why the cotton candy? Most left it and was thrown away. Needless expense.

Loved having a cabana and butler?s service on HMC. Anita from the Pinnacle was our butler and she was so attentive.

Worst part of the cruise was our cabin stewards. Major disappointment as it took too long to get service, service wasn?t that good, had to complain, and didn?t bring pre cruise requested medical/safety items for over 24 hours.

Didn?t do the shows. Went to the piano bar once and it was okay. Casino was appropriately loose. We didn?t do many daytime activities but schedule seemed adequate.

Ports were interesting and enjoyed them. Took a ship?s snorkeling tour in Grand Turk and saw a shark! Highlight for me!

Overall ? I?ve been on 11 cruises ? this one rates the second best of all. If it had not been for our cabin stewards it would of easily been the best ever.

Would go on this cruise again in a heartbeat!

Voyager of the Seas & Hooked on RCL Service

Just got off the Voyager yesterday and do have to say it was one of, if not the best cruise ever. The weather didn't cooperate for water activities in Grand Cayman and cancelled Jamica altogether and there were many dissappointed cruisers. For us, this...

ARE UPGRADES ALWAYS A GOOD THING?

The cruise was for our 40th anniversary. When we arrived at the pier to board we were "upgraded" from an oceanview suite with couch and chair and plenty of storage space to a handicapped cabin that had no seating aside from the bed and limited storage...

Caribbean Cruise

This was an OK cruise for the $$. Definitely not up to the caliber of Celebrity or Azamara, especially in the Main Dining room. Specialty restaurants were great (the ones you pay for) not the Italian one, Cannelleto?? it was like Olive Garden at best...
