Review of the Carnival Pride
Cruise Date: April 2008
Booking: Travel Agency
Embarkation: Long Beach
Cabin number: 6383
Cabin category: Aft Balcony
Carnival Pride, 4/19/08 to Mexican Riviera
It seems my full review was lost in the switch-over. I will try to add that at a later date when all of the technical kinks are worked out. For now I wanted this bit of info here for anyone considering a cruise on the Pride.
This was my first Carnival cruise, I had traveled before twice on Royal Caribbean. The ship was nice, though a little difficult to maneuver around at time. Normally after a couple of days on board you can get a feel for a ship but I was always getting turned around and lost on the Pride. Maybe it's the lack of windows on the interior decks or something, I don't know.
Anyway, the impressions still left with me 2 years after this cruise are such... The ship was clean, the staff generally unfriendly and unwilling to service. Our friends next door had to get a new room steward after asking 3 times to have old macaroni and cheese cleaned off the floor from the previous week's cruise and being denied by the steward, who told them the room was clean "enough".
Deck #4 smelled of raw sewage the entire cruise.
The water tasted like mold. The smell and taste was very strong, even coffee and tea could not cover it up. On our first port of call, Puerto Vallarta, our group made a trip to Wal*Mart and bought cases of water to drink.
Food was just OK, nothing to write home about. Did have dinner at David's Supper Club one night and that was very very good.
Entertainment was hit and miss. Production shows were not impressive. After seeing the first show I skipped the other Carnival production shows. The comedian on board very funny and talent show a lot of fun. But the puppet/comedian guy was boring and we walked out.
Gym facilities were nice but very cramped. Two level facilities mean walking up and down stairs to get to various equipment. Loved the sauna and steam rooms though!
Spa service was OK. I started this cruise with a Monday morning mini massage & facial package offered when we toured the facility the day before. Well worth the $65 spent.
Excursions were done outside the cruise line. We spent a day at the beach in Puerto Vallarta at the Krystal Resort. Got a massage on the beach and it was AMAZING! Only $40 for 75 minutes and worth three times that. The girls were fabulous.
We rode horses on the beach with Randi's Happy Horses. This was one of the best excursions of my life. I had so much fun and really enjoyed relaxing on the private beach after the ride. A really, really, great excursion.
Lots of shopping at all ports and lunch in Cabo were all done by taxi or on foot.
Overall, my experience with Carnival was unimpressive and with the terrible terrible service, moldy water and sewer smelly deck #4, I will never cruise Carnival again.

4.0where there were 2 mother and 2 baby dolphins, one 3 weeks old and the other just 5 days. We also had an opportunity to do some shopping in the gift shop and purchase pictures and a DVD of our swim. I bought a couple of pictures and a t-shirt and to...

I have given an more detailed review in the Cruise Reports section with the same title as this one. But briefly I thought the cabin quality was good, especially the washroom with plenty of shelves and a quite spacious shower. Dining was about averag...Pride 2010
1ST TIME CRUISE. PLEASED AND WILL RETURNA Ship Full of Charm and Pride
Some people say Baltimore has lost its charm, but I'm here to tell you that's nothing but hype (and you know what I say about hype... don't believe it)! In fact, a huge chunk of Baltimore's charm sails up and down the Chesapeake Bay week after week. Sh...1st Family Cruise with 2 Small Children
This is from our cruise this spring. I am the only person in my family that has been on a cruise, so this was our 1st cruise as a family-- my husband Eric, and our 2 boys-- Max (4 at the time) and Simon (2). This was originally (mostly) posted in my bl...Bahamas
Our balcony accomodations were great and we don't often choose balconies unless the price is right. You are not in your cabin but to sleep and shower and change so the cabin doesn't matter to us. The entertainment was great and the dining, we took th...Carnival Pride Baltimore to Bahamas
I just returned from another great cruise (aren't they all, I'm 4 for 4 in great cruises). First the drawbacks: Baltimore Embarkation was horrible, compared to NY and New Orleans the other ports I have sailed out of. I drove down, got there...
