Review of the Carnival Pride

Janice's 11/2/08 Pride Review
3.0lden Zone. We were going to lay out, have some lunch, and the boys were going to parasail. Unfortunately, Willie wasnt feeling well and the boys were tired, so we didnt go. Instead I went up to the aft pool and laid out for a while. It was a beautiful clear 90 degree day and it was nice to almost have the entire deck to myself.
All too soon my stomach was telling me it was lunch time and I went to the Lido buffet. I had roast turkey, walnut stuffing, green beans, and a salad. And for dessert I had a diet pina colada cake and all of it was delicious. The boys finally showed up at the pool at 1:45 pm, so we decided to get off the ship and go to the shopping area in the cruise terminal.
The dock in Mazatlan is in an industrial area and they have a shuttle to take you to the terminal. It is just a short 2 minute ride and you will see armed military guys all around. There are a few shops right inside the terminal but a whole lot more outside in the plaza area. I had to pick up some items in a pharmacy, so I hit those first. After that, we looked in all the stores so Matt could add 2 more shot glasses to his collection. He also decided to buy a Cuban cigar to try out later on the ship. My word of advice here is to look in all the stores before you buy anything. The prices vary a lot from store to store and remember you can still bargain for a lower price.
The boys were getting hungry and we went to the place right there in the middle of the plaza to get some food and drinks. The boys had some tacos and we all had a margarita or two. I cant remember what the price of the tacos were but the margaritas were only $4 a piece and they were really good.
It was really hot and we decided to go back to the ship and hang out by the aft pool. I laid out, while Willie and the boys went for some more fun on the slide. I was looking over the Capers and saw that there was a Trivia Game at 5:00 pm by the Piazza Cafe. I told the boys and we decided to give it a try as a family. We had a great time playing and only missed winning by just one question. So unfortunately, no ship on a stick for me this cruise!!
The sushi stand was right where we played trivia and we went up and got some. I was surprised because it was pretty good and we all enjoyed it. We decided to head up to the top deck to watch our sail away from this port and it was beautiful with all the lights on shore. Afterwards we went back to the cabin to relax before dinner.
Tonights dinner was another good one. I started with some fried mozzarella with marinara sauce, then moved on to a wilted spinach salad with crumbled blue cheese and a hot bacon dressing. For dinner I had the rack of lamb and Mike and I split an order of the seafood newburg. Everything tasted terrific and was prepared perfectly. For dessert tonight I had something I had read about on the cruise chat boards but had never ordered. It was Bitter and Blanc and I have to say that I didnt think it was that great and wouldnt order it again.
After dinner, we went and took some more pictures to add to our growing photo folder. Tonights show was JeROME, who is a comic and we decided to pass on it. We all headed for the casino, the boys to the poker table and me to my favorite slots. Unfortunately, I lost $50 really fast and decided to not play anymore tonight. But the finals for the blackjack tournament were right by my slot machine and I got to enjoy watching Rob play in them. If Im not mistaken, I think he came in second place.
Patrick was the singer in the casino bar during our cruise and tonight he had a huge crowd. Everyone was having a good time and singing along with all his songs. I decided to sit at a table in the bar and enjoy the music and ordered a Grand Marnier. The server came back and told me they didnt have any. This was the 3rd night in a row that they didnt have any and it really irritated me. Every other bar had a bottle and I couldnt understand why they just couldnt get one from them and put it in the casino. The server explained to me that each bar does its own ordering and handles its own stock. But at least this server offered to go to another bar and get me one, which is something that the other ones hadnt done the previous 2 nights. I sat for a while enjoying my drink and having fun with the sing-a-long going on there.
At 12:30, I decided to go up to the cabin. We would be leaving the ship at 10:00 am tomorrow morning and I wanted to get some extra sleep. Tomorrow night would be formal night so I knew it was going to be a long day for me. I fell asleep looking forward to all the fun I had planned for us in Cabo.

4.0ces, how they make 20 pieces of jewelery with just one mold, and then you end up in their showroom. We had a hour to look over the beautiful and unique items and decide on our purchases.
By then it was getting late and Oscar took us back to t...

I have given an more detailed review in the Cruise Reports section with the same title as this one. But briefly I thought the cabin quality was good, especially the washroom with plenty of shelves and a quite spacious shower. Dining was about averag...Pride 2010
1ST TIME CRUISE. PLEASED AND WILL RETURNA Ship Full of Charm and Pride
Some people say Baltimore has lost its charm, but I'm here to tell you that's nothing but hype (and you know what I say about hype... don't believe it)! In fact, a huge chunk of Baltimore's charm sails up and down the Chesapeake Bay week after week. Sh...1st Family Cruise with 2 Small Children
This is from our cruise this spring. I am the only person in my family that has been on a cruise, so this was our 1st cruise as a family-- my husband Eric, and our 2 boys-- Max (4 at the time) and Simon (2). This was originally (mostly) posted in my bl...Bahamas
Our balcony accomodations were great and we don't often choose balconies unless the price is right. You are not in your cabin but to sleep and shower and change so the cabin doesn't matter to us. The entertainment was great and the dining, we took th...Carnival Pride Baltimore to Bahamas
I just returned from another great cruise (aren't they all, I'm 4 for 4 in great cruises). First the drawbacks: Baltimore Embarkation was horrible, compared to NY and New Orleans the other ports I have sailed out of. I drove down, got there...
