Review of the Enchantment of the Seas

Royal Caribbean

Cruise Date: December 2009

Enchantment 11-14-2009

written by reggierail posted on 06/12/09

Embarkation was relatively easy. I got to the Enchantment around 11AM and was onboard by noon.

I had priority boarding and was among the first on the ship. There were only 2 stations to check in

but the rather short line moved quickly.

I had checked my 2 bags so all I had to carryon was my attache. I headed straight for the Windjammer

and had a nice lunch which passed enough time so that my cabin was ready when I headed down to

my inside cat. K cabin on deck 8. I was just steps from the Concierge Lounge and spent quite a bit of

time there especially in the evening for the free drinks from 5PM till 8:30PM. I was very pleasantly

surprised as the lounge was actually larger than the lounge on Radiance. They had the specialty

coffee machine, danishes, fruit and other goodies till 10AM, again, a better selection than on Radiance.

There were also hot and cold appetizers during the evening Happy Hour, there were no hot appetizers

on Radiance. There was a couple of computer terminals and none on Radiance although there were

a couple on Serenade. All in all the service and amenities were very good to excellent in the

Concierge Lounge.

I found the food in the Windjammer to be good to very good, with a good selection for all meal periods.

I likied the egg station for breakfast where you could get omlettes and fried eggs cooked to order.

I found the food in the main dining room fair to good, with nothing really excellent. I was surprised

they served lobster on the 5 night cruise as they didn't on my 5 night Radiance cruise. Overall, I

would say there has been a slight improvement in the main dining room food over the last 2 years.

There still isn't really any beef entree that I could say was excellent. RCCL is failing as far as the

beef dishes are concerned. The beef entrees on Princess and, yes, even Carnival are far and away

much better than RCCL.

The ship overall is in quite good shape and there was ongoing maintenance continuously during my

cruise. The ship is now sailing out of Panama and most of the crew spoke Spanish which was

something new to me.

Our ports were Grand Cayman, which I skipped and Cozumel. I had been to both several times

before and just did a little shopping in Cozumel and spent a couple hours at an internet store.

They charged $3 per hour which was a lot less than on the ship.

Debakation went quite well and I was off the ship by 9AM with no priority status as I was in no hurry.

I would be going straight from Enchantment to Oasis and didn't think we would be boarding til well

after 1PM or thereabouts.

Mexican Riviera on Spirit Nov. 28, 2010

Another great cruise on Carnival Spirit, my 3rd on Spirit and 13th overall on Carnival. I was traveling with a group and most of us met for my signature Bon Voyage party at our pre cruise hotel. I dropped off my bags at about 11:30 and then returne...

Paradise worked for me

The accommodation was a 1A cabin with lower and upper berth. Being a large person I was very comfy in the lower berth and my 8 Year old grandson just loved his upper berth. The cabin steward was very accommodating and quickly took care of our every nee...

Enchantment ON the Seas

Our party had a couple of cabins on the enchantment of the seas across all cabin types and were satisfied with the staterooms. They were better than other cruise lines (Carnival), but not mind=blowing. Being in an interior we didn't spend much time in ...

Halloween cruise

We sailed the Halloween cruise out of Baltimore. Embarkation was a little different than usual, but went smoothly. When pulling up to the terminal, they take your luggage prior to parking, so make sure that you have your passport and sea pass paperwork...
