Huggo's in Kailua, Kona. Great food, good service, right on the water and convenient to many of the town's accomodations. Right beside the former Hilton. (Royal Kona or something like that) Also, there was a place called Michelangelo's with great Italian food. Don't know if it's still there.

Hawaii 2012, Grand Princess 2011, etc.

Here's a question I can definitely answer. Yes, Huggo's is next to the Royal Kona Resort which use to be a Hilton many many years ago. The Royal Kona looks to be a bit dated but it is still a great location and it is clean. As for restaurants Huggo's I feel use to be very good for many years. Now I have not been there for about 2 years but the last two times we were there we felt the quality had slipped. Prices are still high but most of the fish was dry and not overly tasty but then that is just my opinion. In the Kailua Kona area I highly recommend The Kona Inn. We have always had a great meal but I do recoomend making reservations especially if you want to be there for SunSet which is usually like a show.

The picture below was taken while having dinner at the Kona Inn just after sun set.

Another fantastic meal that really should not be missed is Sunday Brunch at the Mauna Kea Resort. Mauna Kea Resort is noth of the Kona airport about 20 miles in the Kohala Coast area. Their Sunday Brunch is by far the Best Bruch I have ever been to and we have been to it at least 7 times. Now it is a bit expensive. Last time we were there it was $34.99 but it is worth every dime Here is the decription from their seb site...
    Sunday Brunch (Sunday)

Home to the famous Mauna Kea Beach Hotel's Sunday Brunch, the number one favorite choice of the local Big Island community. The menu features a sushi bar, extravagant chilled seafood bar, specialty carvery stations and decadent dessert selections. Casual Resort Attire.

When they say decadent desserts they mean it, it makes the food on a cruise ship look lame. We have not been there for two years now and I really miss it.

I too have to totally agree if you are over that way. The food was as good as my Grandmother's when she was alive. It tastes like the best home cooked meal you ever had.I have only had lunch there was very impressed.

I haven't been there in a VERY long time, but we went to a fabulous family owned Japanese restaurant when I was there. It is on the west coast, in between Kona and Captain Cook. We were served by the son, Jason, and I think it was called Teshima's. If I got the name right, it is still there and getting great reviews.

Thanks MC. I'll check it out on our trip next year. Do you remember how far down the coast from Kona it was?
