Thread: What is your favorite Island in Hawaii and Why?

We took the helicoptor tour in Kauai and it sure is beautiful from the air. Here is the Na Pali Coast with the green cliffs and waterfalls. I think you can see one of the waterfalls in this photo.

Remember Fantasy Island opening scene where the little guy says 'da plane, da plane'? That was Kauai. And the cliff scenes in Jurrasic Park were filmed there, too.

Thats so funny that you say that.. there really are just chickens wandering around everywhere!

Thanks for the explanation Lisa..........I guess under those circumstances I could see why it wasn't one of your favorties..........we never saw a chicken one!! So we were in the right place at the right time or it wasn't chicken season!

I'm really surprised you didn't see any chickens Jim. They're everywhere. They're feral now since being released by Hurrican Iniki several years ago. I've seen them at the shore, and at the top of the canyon.

Lisa, sorry you didn't like Kauai. It's one of my favourites (they all are actually) and I guess we've always lucked out weatherwise. I've heard it can be miserable at certain times of the year, but we've missed them. I also like the Big Island. The scenery is so diverse it's amazing.



As for the food on Kauai, we stay in a condo near Poipu beach and right next door is the Beach House restaurant. Excellent food and service. We also did Roy's. Great food, but noisy.

Joe the day we were there was kinda rainy and drizzely and almost cool by Hawaii standards.......

I figure the chickens were smarter than the tourists and stayed out of the drizzle.......

Joe - I gotta agree here

I don't think people give the Big Island enough credit. There is much to do there and its beautiful...

Alisa, if I could pick any where to live it would be on the Big Island. DH and I have actually considered it. What is funny is if I really pushed it I could possibley transfer there I work for Fletcher Jones and we own Big Island Honda in Kona and Hilo and I am sure if an opening came up in finance I could transfer. Oh well I guess I will stay in Vegas for now.
