Thread: car rentals 101

Ok. So now I want to book a car in oahu as we plan to do a beach day. We will be staying in waikiki but want to travel to hanama bay and kailua. Problem is I have never rented a car. Any recommendation to web sites for car rentals in waikiki area??? Do you end up prepaying?? I am clueless.. advice pleese

We used Thrifty Car Rental and were very pleased with them. You will need to give them your cc but if you cancel a day in advance there would be no charge.
They have a shuttle to and from the airport too!

My guess is many companies have booths at the airport, while some shuttle you to their office like Thrifty. I rented from Alamo once at the airport while waiting for a late flight and everything went smoothly. Make sure you have your credit card and driver's license with you. As for booking online, all major companies offer that service. I plan to use Enterprise the next time we're in Hawaii.
