Question Best time/month to CRUISE to Hawaii?

It's always been Late May/Early June for us each time .... (always via plane/land trips ... never on a cruise).

Is there a better time/month to go?

Is there really a bad time to go?

Seriously, considering the many days AtSea in the Pacific to do this on a cruise ... would very much appreciate your opinions of the absolute BEST TIME!

The seas are usually a little rougher in the spring. That is when they have those huge surfing waves! Of course it's the ocean and it can be calm or rough any time.

If you want to see whales you need to go between December and April.

We sailed twice at the end September and once at the end of October. It was coolish the first day or so heading out from California and the last day or so as we neared California coming back. Had a great time with no really bad weather to speak of. The occasional shower.......

Except for last summer, when the Regal Princess did the RT, the cruises out of the west coast are between September and early May. I haven't heard anyone complain about the time of year they've gone.

We went in late December and it was cool the first couple of days in the 60s and rough seas. After a couple of days, the seas became relatively smoothly and the temps rose to about 70s. We didn't have rain at all, not even in Hilo. When we returned to the west coast (Ensenada, then LA), the temperatures were in the 80s due to a heat spell.

We saw whales off Lahaina. Apparently December is a good time to spot whales there.

The other times I've been in Hawaii were on land vacations in February and November and got rain both times.

Thanks, Char and Patty, for your info.

My DH, bless his heart, has let me drag him all over Europe, etc.

He totally just loves going to the Caribbean .... BUT .... does want to go back to Hawaii. It's the ONLY place other than the Caribbean that he has ever said he'd like to cruise so I need to seriously look into doing it. He loves AtSea days so no problem there for him.

    Thanks again!
