I would love to know from those that have done a Hawaii cruise on how you found the crossing?
Was it rough? When did you go? What can I expect? Or any other great tidbits. Thanks in advance

Ben .... I'd also be VERY interested in this! The one we're considering has four days AtSea both going and returning! Is that going to be too much AtSea time?
Any additional infomation would be greatly appreciated!
Note: The only times we've been to Hawaii were by air ... land trips ... always stayed in Maui.

Well I like sea days but IMO a cruise is not the best way to see Hawaii. You do get to do a lot of islands but you really just get a taste of each. About 5 years ago we went to Hawaii and saw three different islands. That was a very long and very expensive vacation, we were their for 19 days. I still did enjoy the cruise but would have maybe liked to have more time in the beautiful Hawaiian islands.
If you are only going to go to Hawaii once, I don't think that is the case for either of you. I would encourage a land vacation but Hawaii is really expensive especially if you want to stay at really nice hotels like the Hilton Wikouloa (sp) Village which is simply amazing. My father used to travel a lot so we just used the points he got from Hilton.

Thanks so very much for your honest opinion and time to post this, Ben!
Actually, you are saying what my DH thinks about just flying and staying in a nice hotel in Hawaii.
My problem is that he ALWAYS wants to go directly to Maui. I was thinking a cruise would allow us to see more .... Guess I could have worse problems than having a DH would likes Maui and will happily take me to a great hotel there ....

Our cruise in December 2005 had a couple of rough days at the beginning, but the rest of the cruise was pretty calm. There's a current that you cross a bit west of Los Angeles. Not quite sure how far south it goes, so maybe you'll be okay.
Our weather was on the cool side for a few days, and the rest of the time, the weather was nice. No rain at all, not even in Hilo.
We did have to miss Kona because of high waves.
For my family, it was a nice cruise as we like sea days. We weren't bored at all because there were plenty of activities. It was the third time to Hawaii for hubby and me (the Big Island was new to both of us and hubby hadn't been to Maui before) and it was the first time for the girl.

we did a 14 day cruise to hawaii from san diego last april on celebrity infinity,,
and was it AMAZING !!! and relaxing.. it was soooo unreal.
we had been to honolulu before, but getting to go to more places and have all those sea days to relax was a plus !!!
going there the weather was ok, the sea was rough but you could barely tell, the stabilizers were wayyyyy out.. and coming home same thing, but once you get there its all worth it,
and for the price you cant beat it, i would do this cruise every year if i could..
i have some pics in my webshots link in my signature if anyone is interested,
