we had been to honolulu before, but getting to go to more places and have all those sea days to relax was a plus !!!
going there the weather was ok, the sea was rough but you could barely tell, the stabilizers were wayyyyy out.. and coming home same thing, but once you get there its all worth it,
and for the price you cant beat it, i would do this cruise every year if i could..

We are hoping to do the 15 day cruise to Hawaii in Fall 2009 from San Diego or Los Angeles. Really enjoyed seeing your photos. The Maui Ocean Center looks fantastic. Do you remember how far it was from where the ship docked? Did you go on your own or do a ship's excursion for it?

Thanks for posting your photos.
Mary, if the port is Lahaina, that's a tender port. Not sure about the other parts of Maui.

Just checked on Princess site ...
Maui (Lahaina), Hawaii
Thanks for the info about the tender. So I guess my question then would be what is at the dock for the tender AND does anyone know from that point how far it is to the Maui Ocean Center?
(no information yet on the RCCL cruises to Hawaii - so not sure for them)
We did this WAY back in 1998. Ensenada to Hawaii. The 5 and a half days were GLORIOUS. It was a bit more rocky than we were used to, visually, but the stabilizers must have been working full force, as we never felt a thing.
The weather was a bit cooler than we would have expected. Leaving from Mexico, and heading southwest we thought we would be warm. It was cool, but just a bit that would have required a jacket.
Wife was 5 months pregnant, so we were also more relaxed than a normal cruise.
We had a car waiting for us in every port, and never having been to Hawaii before, we got a GREAT overview of all the places we stopped. Unlike some previous posters, I thought cruising was a great way to see this place. Each island was different from the previous, and the order in which we traveled, we went from nature (Kauai) to metropolitan (Oahu).
But boy, did we cover a lot. We sort of wished we had that 5.5 days at sea after the cruise.
Have yet to be back, but if I had a choice, it would once again be a cruise!

We did a 15 day on Princess from Los Angeles and absolutely loved it! We had 4 or 5 days at sea in each direction, and the programs immersed us in Hawaiian lore, which was wonderful and kept us plenty busy when we wanted to be. No rough weather to speak of.
Since we don't fly and we live in Miami, we went out to LA by train, by way of Washington DC and Chicago, spent some time sightseeing in California, and on the way back (also by train) stopped for a few days at the Grand Canyon and Chicago. All told, the trip took us a bit over a month, and we had a great time!
