Hi I know I could easily go to a website or actually start rereading Foder, BUT, does anyone have any suggestions of what DH and I can do while in Honolulu. We were given, as a gift, a Dolphin Encounter which is right in the middle of the day-have to be there at 1:30, Encounter at 2:00 p.m. That means we will probably not have time to do the Arizona Memorial. We will have a car that day. Any ideas what else we might do in the morning and late afternoon??

    Thanks,
    Lucy

I have a suggestion for lunch - go to Duke's in Waikiki. It's a famous landmark restaurant...very surfer themed, great food, and it is right on the main strip on the beach behind the Outrigger Waikiki Hotel. There is a lot of old Hawaiian history there, and besides having a fantastic location (you can watch surfers as you eat and then walk right across the street to the big open air market) it's got a lot of interesting things to look at from old surfboards to old Hawaiian newspaper articles.

LM, when we stayed in Waikiki, we boarded the early morning bus and got to the Arizona Memorial by 8:30 a.m. +/- a few minutes. The gates opened early thus giving you early access to the memorial and show. I can't see why you can not view that piece of history. I know it was one of two highlights of our Oahu stay. I did not like Waikiki at all. It's like a New York City with a beach. Did go to Happy Hour at the Ilekalani which was wonderful. The photo above reminds me of that scene on the shore.
