The Zaandam had just sent a tender ashore in Kona yesterday for a 7:30 AM excursion when the quake hit. The Zaandam did feel the quake -- everyone thought that something had exploded on board or nearby. The rocked just a little. The captain came on within a few minutes and told everyone what had happened and said that all tours for Kona had been cancelled and that the tender was on the way back with everyone. They kept the one tender in the water for awhile in case it was needed on shore for any reason. But for everyone on the ship yesterday was another sea day and the crew arranged activities for everyone. They were scheduled to pass by the volcano in the evening.
