Cool Half Moon Cay - Report

We were at HMC about a week ago and totally enjoyed our day!

What a lovely place -- BLUE water and white sand!

The new pirate ship bar, Captain Morgan's, was very nice. It would be a great place to go if you happen to be at HMC on a chilly, windy day. We could easily have spent more time there.

Since the weather was fantastic that day, we decided on the other bar which they seem to call The Beach Bar ... but I didn't see a sign with a name on it. It's a covered open bar with a wonderful view of the beach. We sat in bar chairs in the shade and went in & out of the water as we pleased. Also, it was fun talking to others doing the same.

The buffet lunch was actually very good! By far the best we've had on any other cruise owned private island.

We are beach & beach bar people so HMC was perfect for us!

For those of you interested in booking a Cabana. Captain Morgan's is located between #5 and #6.

Captain Morgan's really wasn't loud compared to the Beach Bar where we were which was way too loud -- could hear it all the way while walking on the beach to Captain Morgan's.

    If I wanted a quiet cabana, I'd pick #1 or #2.

That is what everyone was fearing, Lulu. Captain Morgan is great for the Carnival crowd but we thought would be more out place with the Holland America group.

Thank you for the heads up.

Actually, Neal, the HAL faithful may end up liking it.

There's a sidewalk leading all the way when using the level front enterance ... no need to walk in the sand at all. Going out the oceanfront way, there are two handicapped ramps leading down to the beach area. The interior provided deep shade and protection from the elements. It's fairly close to the BBQ area. I was a little shocked that it wasn't a LOUD party place ... but, it really wasn't ... just a combo playing Island Music at level where people could still talk to each other without shouting.

Hmm, not what I pictured at all. From your earlier comments I thought it was LOUD. Glad to hear it isn't that bad.

That older "Beach Bar" place (not Captain Morgan's) was LOUD and played strange rock music. Maybe, they thought the Carnival crowd would like it? No, not so, everyone was complaining on how LOUD it was with music no one on our sailing liked. (Mothers Day)

Once again, the Pirate Ship, Captain Morgan's, was rather laid back with decent music that wasn't loud.
