We will be stopping at Half Moon Cay in August - looking for some suggestions for shore excursions, etc. or should a person just take in some R&R at this beautiful port?

Travelmama-
HMC is fantastic! It is the Island that HAL owns and is just wonderful. There are activities such as aquatrax, horseback riding and swimming with stingrays. All are a great deal of fun according to my kids.
I myself am my happiest walking the long, long half moon shaped white sanded beach.

I brought my own gear and snorkeled there without a tour.

In my opinion it's close to paradise.

This is a tender port - right?
So when you get to shore are you right at this Half moon shoreline you are referring to or do you have to walk or taxi to get to this gorgeous area?
Do you rent chairs at this beach as well?

Yes it is a tender port. The entire island is owned by the cruise company and there are no taxi's. The dock is within short walking distance of the beach as well as the little shopping area and BBQ Pavillions. It's the ultimate beach day with the softest sand I've felt.
