Thread: Guatemala -- Your Opinion?

If you wish, please give your reasons. They could be helpful to those who have never been ... but are considering going.

Never been ... but VERY interested ... especially in Puerto Quetzal ... port stop there next year!

Yes, I just came back from Puerto Quetzal...we didn't go into the city though, but took a safari-type excursion where our bus drove us through a nature park. We saw zebras, giraffes, rhinos etc....I got bitten by alot of mosquitos there.

It was alright.

NOTE: take insect repellent!

The tour was alright I guess. I mean I can see those animals at the zoo anyway!

That excursion was not our first pick. We were supposed to go visit a sugar cane mill and do some shopping in the city but that tour got cancelled for some reason. So the safari was the only excursion left that looked interesting. I think I would have liked Guatemala more if we went on the original tour.

And as for those pesky mosquitos...they are sneaky little bastards! I usually can detect when something is biting me because I'm very sensitive. Anyway the tour guide actually passed around a spray can of "Off!" but I didn't bother using it. I'm a walking blood bank. Bugs will always gravitate towards me no matter what kind of goop I put on

Not really funny but those "plb" feel the same about me so understand!

Thanks for your full reply! For sure I'll cross that safari thingy off my list of things to do there. No desire to go to Central America to see animals from Africa anyway ....
