I am reminded of the old 'hippie' saying, "If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem."

While that may be a little strong, I DO think more and more about contributing positively to the world as I get older. And I like the opportunity to do that that cruising gives me.

Doesn't solve crime or anything, I know, but I try to be pleasant and respectful to the people I come into contact with in the various ports.

SO NEAT that you've got a special link with Guatemala, houch.
Our special link with Honduras means a great deal to me.

I didn't get a chance to talk to anyone about it today. Perhaps I can talk to them next week.
Right now we have a group of young people leaving for Tanzania and the focus is on them. I was asked to come along on one of the adult trips cause they know I like to travel. So far I have declined. I am not sure I want to stay in a place where they have to iron your underwear after washing in order to get the bugs out,

I always thought the washing took care of all the bugs!

We actually had 3 folks from Guatemala visiting out church today. They are from our sister church there and are here for some church functions ( I am so bad at remembering names) going on in the next month. They are staying with the spanish teachers family right now.

I cruised to Guatemala on the Sun and felt perfectly safe the whole time...

It is a poor country, but I found the people quite friendly.

We also were in Santo Tomas de Castilla, Guatemala December 26, 2006. I have some awesome pictures of the Mayan ruins we visited there that I've attached here.

At no time did I have any fear for myself or my boys. I will post a excursion review in destinations/excursions section.
