How to get around in Athene at your own
From the port of Piraeus (Athene).
Taxis can be found in the port just after the main exit. Prices range from 15-20 Euro depending on traffic will encounter.
How to use metro way
Escaping from the main exit of the port you can follow the path right and walk counterclockwise to the metro station of Piraeus (20-25 minutes away)the subway line is actually in a railway station building. If you do not want to walk, take the bus with the number 843 (every 15-20 minutes).The ticket prices are: 1 euro for bus and 1 euro for a metro line, but you can buy the ticket for 3 Euro which you can use in busses and metro for 24 hours without limits. Tickets can be found in kiosks and metro stations. A kiosk will be available at the output port. A bus stop can be found outside the port. Bus 843 stop out of metro entrance (take as sign an iron bridge for ask from driver stop the bus).
Cheap "Sightseeing bus" in Athene
Bus 400 is a good alternative for the expensive sightseeing tours, for about 5 Euro you can travel the whole day long in Athene. This bus will passing about 20 attractions in Athene and the same bus card you also can use for all other busses, the card can be buy in the bus.

Cost 18 Euro p.p. and has audio in French - English - German - Italian - Japanese - Greece language onboard. The ticket can be buy in the bus and is valid 24 h, the whole roundtrip takes 90 min. but you can get on and off whenever you like.
You can recognize the busstation on the blue plate and the bus has a red color.
