Hi:

We have been reading a great deal about Corfu trying to determine what we should do while in Corfu for one day, off the ship in June.

Is it worth going to Paleokastritsa and Achillion Palace as it is quite a drive to Paleokastritsa? We have heard that Corfu is a beautiful town and lots to see. Is the old Fortress walking distance from the centre of Corfu Town?

We thought of getting off the ship, walking around Corfu Town for a few hours, have lunch, shop, see some of the important attractions close by and then maybe taking a taxi for a drive to Achillion Palace and if there is enough time, drive along the coast to Paleokastritsa.

Your suggestions about what is the best itenary to make and also suggestions what to see in Corfu Town itself will be greatly appreciated.

hi, where to start o.k. paleo is very pretty. corfu town is good for a day visit but not to stay there.another alternative is to head up north to roda and sidari .again they are very oretty and will be relativly quiet in june. to be honest i wouldn't bother with the palace. i think you would find it a let down.

Thanks Smitty. Seeing that we are only in Corfu for the day, do you think walking around Corfu Town, seeing the Old Fortress etc would fill our day or should we plan on going up North?

What must we see in Corfu Town and is the Old Fortress near the town?

it's just a good town for wandering in . they'res no must see. either up north or paleo ..... they're both good.
