Grandeur ots Delays a Day til 9/11

    From the RCL Website:

Grandeur of the Seas, scheduled to depart Sunday, September 10 - unfortunately has experienced a mechanical problem involving its starboard rudder. Royal Caribbean regrets this unexpected development. The ship will now delay its departure until approximately midnight Monday - to allow time to repair the rudder - and sail an alternative itinerary.

Guests booked on this sailing may embark between 5 and 10 p.m. Sunday and make full use of the ship until its departure Monday night. Due to time, distance and weather constraints, the ship will now make a three-night sailing (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) with no ports of call, returning Friday morning as scheduled.

Guests booked on this sailing may cancel their cruise and receive a letter of credit for 125 percent of the amount paid to Royal Caribbean. That letter of credit may be applied to a future Royal Caribbean cruise. Guests sailing on this cruise will receive a 50 percent refund and a 25 percent discount on a future Royal Caribbean cruise.

from WBAL.com (WBAL is a major Baltimore radio station):

    Cruise Trip Delayed In Baltimore
    Monday, September 11, 2006
WBAL Radio and The Associated Press

A delay and a detour are upsetting the vacation plans of hundreds of cruise ship passengers in Baltimore.
The Royal Caribbean liner Grandeur of the Seas was supposed to leave the Port of Baltimore yesterday, but its departure was delayed by a mechanical problem. The ship is now expected to get underway about midnight tonight.
The company says the delay and weather constraints in the Atlantic mean the cruise will be cut short, with no ports of call.
The ship will return as scheduled Friday.
Royal Caribbean gave passengers two options -- either a fifty percent refund and a discount on a future trip or canceling in exchange for a future cruise worth 125 percent of the cost of the trip.
