Thread: Just back from the Grandeur of the seas

What a great trip.
The capt. was very funny,dry but funny, we found ourselves looking forward to his updates,even opened the door of the room too listen.
Port of departure was Baltimore-it was run very well and went smoothly.
The food was great.
Much better then the vision of the seas ship was.(2003)
The crew were happy and helpful with any and all needs of the passengers.
Even though there was between 600-700 kids on board it wasn't bad, they must have a GREAT kids program and staff.
Only ran into a few mean rude kids and they were handled quickly.
The entertainment was pretty good, the ships broadway shows were better then the 2 so called comedians that were on board.
Mosaic(an occapello group)(sp?) were UNBELIEVABLY GREAT!!!
The Quest game was A HUGE AMOUNT OF FUN, pack scavenger hunt like items(lipstick,bras,underwear,mens sox,a pen for drawing a tatoo just in case you don't have someone in the group who does,a bottle of alcohol,belt,keys,men/woman shoes,etc...)This game is for adults only and totally a hoot.
You do sometimes smell the sewer smell that you have read about in these forums, but it's not constant,Thank Goodness.
Bring air freshener, it will help with that smell as well as for fish oil vitamins that may break open(yes,learned the hard way) so bring your bottle so they maybe less liklely too break.
There is plenty of storage space, 14 drawers and a full and a 1/2 bar in the closet, if you have more then 2 people, you may want 2 bring or ask for more hangers, we didn't use all we had.
The bathroom had a medicine cabinet with doors, but didn't have any electric outlets and there was only 2 on the desk so you may need too bring a strip with you.
The AC wasn't working to full capability but we were able to get a fan when we asked the pursors desk.
There is lobster served and it is very good and you can get all you want especially if your in first seating, we heard 2nd seating ran out, but I can't confirm that.
All the ports were very nice with the exception of Miami, this is a waste of a port unless you have LOTS of $, It's a good place to people watch and they did have quite a bit of traffic that included some really nice vehicles and the art deco buildings were cool too, but now I know if I EVER go on another cruise that takes you to Miami, I won't get off the ship, they should have stayed an extra day in either Key west or either of the ports in Mexico.
All in all this was an awsome cruise and I would love to do it again.

What category was your stateroom? I've never experienced so much storage on any other lines.

Thank you SO MUCH for the report on the Grandeur. We'll be on her sister ship, the Rhapsody of the Seas next may, and it will be our first time on a vision class ship, so I read your report with great interest!

berniemom.... Thanks for your time tell us about your cruise! Really enjoyed reading your HELPFUL report -- brought back fond memories! Certainly sounds like you had a great time!

We were on GOS about 5 years ago and LOVED the size of the ship -- not to big and not too small!

Note: Just ask your room steward and he'll bring you all of the hangers you want so you really don't have to carry extras along!

sydsgram .... We had a cabin with a balcony. Can't remember the catagory or deck since it was a while back -- just that it was upper forward near the pool.

Actually, our cabin wasn't very large BUT they do make extremely good use of every inch of space for storage! We were pleased!

Thanks berniemom for taking the time to write a report of your trip. We were also on the Grandeur a few years ago and had a wonderful time.
We were in our first inside cabin and couldn't believe how beautifully it was decorated and how much room we had!
There were a lot of kids on our ship too. We liked to sit on the upper deck overlooking the pool (less crowded) and when we wanted to get in the water, we would go to the adults only pool (which was very nice )

Hanna .... No sewer smell on GOS for us ... but that was 5 years ago and our cabin was on an upper deck.

For some reason it seems the cabins on the lower decks of MANY ships are the ones that have the most problems with this "smelly" situation.

We were on a lower deck, inside room and had no sewer smell. The only place we smelled that smell was sometimes in the area with the stairs/elevator. It wasn't that bad.
