Ziggy - you are getting me excited about Grand Turk, and we don't even go until October of NEXT year!
Can you tell me more about the Governor's Beach excursion? It was through the ship and it was 34.00 each, 4 1/2 hours, snorkel gear (others could rent, didn't see prices) & floating mats included (others were renting them, it was $5.00 for the day). Chairs on the beach were free.
Was it a half day or full day? Little better than half.
What kind of food or refreshments were available there? They had soft drink machines, a stand to purchase drinks and food (sorry we didn't eat there, so I don't know prices, foods smelled good cooking through out the day though LOL). As we were leaving we all got a soda and chips, it was really expensive, small bag of chips was 1.50 and can of soda was 2.50. I heard food at the dock was about the same.
Did you snorkel? How was the reef? Could you swim out to the wall?Yes, we snorkeled and it was awesome!!! The small reef was really impressive! No you cant swim out to the wall, it's too far and they said it was too deep to see anything unless you were in scuba gear anyway. In the one picture, you can see the scuba excursion boats, its blurry and I had my camera in full zoom.
Was there an insect problem? Nope, not at all, but the one thing I remember were the big shells laying on the beach all over. Conch shells I think they are called. An islander told me it was from the sea creatures (he said animals LOL) out in the wall reef that eats them and the current brings the shells ashore.
Do you remember (about) what the cost was? It was $34.00 ea., I heard it would have cost us less to do it on our own, as Gov. Beach was not that far but we felt better doing it through the ship LOL.
Thanks!
There were many shops that hadn't opened up yet, as the port was fairly new, there should be lots more shops open by Oct!
