I'm taking a neutral stand on this. We've never been to either location so each is a new adventure. My wife wanted to visit the turtle farm on Cayman but isn't too disappointed. We like the idea of not being so rushed in the other ports. The $75 is probably the difference in port fees, not a PR compensation. We're OK with that.

To tell you my opinion, I think Playa is much more nicer than Caymen. Plus you won't have to tender. And when we were there this past week, the water was a little rough. Not to bad but rough. I think there is more to do in Playa anyway. Some things are still not up and running in Caymen. We ended up at the 7 mile beach for the day. I'm sure that no matter which port you go to, you will have fun.

I just happened to start reading that thread over there and all that haranguing gave me a headache. Glad you were able to rescue the OP's report for her, Heather.

The problem with the cruiseline being quiet on what actually happened is that rumors fly. the latest I heard is that the captain was at dinner with his sister when the listing happened. Isn't that what happened with the FEMA director? Sometimes the cruiselines need to be honest with the passengers about events, which would help keep calm in the long run. In the PR world, it's called "crisis management."

I have to whole-heartedly agree. sometimes cruiselines, airlines, even the government thinks we are not smart enough to handle the truth. What this does is only fuel rumors. To be fair however often times no one wants to say anything until the legal deepartment looks at it.

Has anyone heard anything from the passengers getting off the boat?
