Has the Grand Princess had a refurbishment recently???
Does the ship have a Sanctuary and Piazza with "sidewalk" style bars and cafes like the Star Princess??
Does Princess offer any Soda/water, wine, packages???
What is the price for the speciality restaurants??
Is it acually true that Princess treat smokers like humans and allow smoking inside all staterooms???
I'll be on the Grand on the 1 August so I'll let you know.
I cruised on the Sun Princess January 2008 and you could smoke in all staterooms, one side outside and in a section of the Wheelhouse Bar.
I bought a soda package for the kids and a coffee one for me & Mum. I think you can preorder a wine package but I'm not sure. We just ordered a bottle with dinner and whatever was left the kept for us until the next night.

Grand Princess Prepared for 2009
From tomorrow, Grand Princess will undergo a major refurbishment, preparing the superliner for her upcoming season with Mediterranean cruises from Southampton. Centrepiece of the work will be the addition of Princess Cruises' ground-breaking outside spa-retreat The Sanctuary, complete with double sun loungers, massage cabanas, healthy food and drink selections and attentive service.
In addition to The Sanctuary, Grand Princess will receive a new sports court, new 26" LCD television screens in all staterooms and suites, new beverage and soup stations in the buffet restaurant, and a new poolside hamburger grill and pizzeria. Further refurbishment is taking place throughout the ship, with new wooden floors, new gym equipment and new soft furnishings. The superliner already has iconic Princess features such as the 300 sq ft poolside screen Movies under the Stars, a wedding chapel, and the famous Italian restaurant Trattoria Sabatini's.
"This refurbishment ensures that passengers will enjoy the latest features, as well as the outstanding service and entertainment that Princess is so well known for." said Pieter van der Schee, head of brand marketing for Princess Cruises. "Highlight of the latest additions is The Sanctuary, as passengers have told us they love this opportunity of complete relaxation and pampering."

You answered the second question yourself. I just remembered, there was a refurbishment when they added Movies Under The Stars around the mid 2000s. How much, I don't recall.
I was on the Crown Princess in November, 2006 and no smoking was allowed in the cabins. If Julie said they could smoke in the cabins in Jan 2008, then they must have eased the rules. All smokers had to go on the balcony to smoke when I was on the Crown. Remember, this was the same year the Star was on fire.
Btw, I saw the Grand here in Ft Lauderdale yesterday.

There definitely is no smoking all around. I was on the Crown Princess in November, 2006 and no smoking is allowed in the cabins. That's fleetwide.

She started her 15 days Trans Atlantic cruise yesterday calling in Bermuda, Ireland, France and the UK.

YES .... Princess ships allow smoking inside of all cabins as well as on the balconies! Just ask your room steward for ashtrays. We normally get three.
This is cigarette smoking only ... no pipes or cigars. (Think, most ships have cigar bars ... Emerald did.)
We were recently on Emerald Princess (February) so this is current info!
