Grand not going to Roatan?

Hi,

Someone on another board pointed out that the Grand is scheduled to go to Grand Cayman in November for the 2006-2007 season. This is not in the published itinerary, which includes Costa Maya, Cozumel, Belize and Roatan. The Grand Cayman port authority shows the Grand going there but all of the scheduled ports on Cruisecal show the published itinerary.

A Princess rep told a CC member that they were going to alternate ports, Grand Cayman and Roatan every other week.

Does anyone here have an inside source at Princess to get the real story?

We missed Roatan and Belize on our October cruise last year because of a hurricane. We were so looking forward to seeing them on our Jan 2007 cruise. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Update- After many of us cruisers bugging Princess and the Grand Cayman port authority they issued an email stating Princess has requested for the Grand to be taken off the schedule for the 2006-2007 season. Yea!

What good news!
Those of us who send supplies to an orphanage in Roatan really count on having as many sailing to that port as possible. While I don't wish the people in Grand Cayman any harm, (they had quite enough of that in 2004!) I'm really glad the Grand will go to Roatan on a weekly basis, instead of biweekly.

The Grand calling at Roatan weekly is, indeed, good news! Roatan, in general, doesn't get near the ship's traffic as other ports, and each and every visit is important to their economy.

Roatan is a beautiful port, which I'm sure you'll emjoy, as we have.

CSI Roatan, as MCCruiser said above, receives supplies for the orphanage, as well as their community outreach ministry and educational sponsirship / assistance program from kind hearted cruisers on ships calling at the port of Roatan.
