Cruising is a wonderful way to enjoy retirement!!
Stopped counting after 110 cruises.
I went on this cruise three years ago on the Island Princess. You'll have a lot of fun. Princess has many activities on the sea days so you'll never be bored.

Hey Jamaica1! Welcome to our friendly cruise community!
We have done several Hawaii cruises and every time we found that the weather was a little chilly and the seas were a little rocky the first day, but warmed up and calmed down as we progressed across the Pacific. Likewise, coming back to the US the last sea day was much like the first, but we like to feel the motion of the ocean, so it didn't bother us.
You are in for a treat! Do read Hanna's trip report! It will give you some insight into what to expect.![]()
well lets sea here,,,,we are heading out a week from tuesday and going to do a park and sail hotel and then depart on wednesday,,,,just so excited i didnt get alot of hits here but we do have a nice group of us from another site will be meeting at the wheel house bar on thursday ,we will nail out the time this week, can anyone help me with finding a nice resturant in the la area in a nive area? dont know the la area at all.....thanks all i will leave a review when i get back
What hotel are you staying at? If you booked your hotel thru Princess, then you're probably staying at the LAX Marriott. One thing to be aware of, the area around LAX is not really for sightseeing or restaurant going. You should probably plan to get a taxi and go elsewhere for meals, etc. What time are you getting in?
If it's still daytime, or early evening when you check into your hotel and are ready to go someplace, try Santa Monica, which is not too far away. The Third Street Promenade is an outdoor mall with restaurants, shops, even street performers if the weather is okay. It's not too far from the ocean (Santa Monica beach), but the beach would be way too cold to check out.
If you get in early in the am the day before your cruise, you can go over to Long Beach. The Aquarium there is excellent. There's a free bus that will take you over to Shoreline Village, which is a quaint shopping area with some nice restaurants. If pretty mobile, you can walk along the marina to get there from the Aquarium too (we did, with our tween daughter, and felt safe). The Queen Mary and the Carnival berth is next to the Village.
If you don't mind a more expensive fare, you can go to La Cienega Blvd., in West Hollywood (next to Beverly Hills). That is the famed Restaurant Row in Los Angeles.
If you're getting into LA in the late afternoon, I would skip this, though, as they will be quite a lot of rush hour traffic.
