galveston cruise- what airport?

i'm coming from newark NJ and continental doesnt fly to galveston. is Houston close?

Yes - Everyone flys into Houston. It is just over an hour from Galveston. You have two choices with Houston. Bush Intercontinental (IAH) is on the North side of Houston and is a Continental Hub. Houston Hobby airport is kind of on the South side of Houston and is a smaller airport. I would suggest Bush (IAH).

Galveston doesn't have an airport.

As I recall it is about 1.5 hours my bus.
That is the most used airport for cruises out of Galveston.
There is a regional airport closer but most airlines do not fly into it.

Galveston has a tiny airport that nobody goes to. Personally I like Hobby rather than IAH. The extra 1/2 to 3 hours around Houston is a pain (depending upon traffic) Southwest flies into Hobby and is very convenient.

We used Bush from Philadelphia and had about an 1 1/2 hours ride to the port!

Houston Hobby is the closest, but Bush would be my second choice for Galveston. I've always flown to Hobby via Southwest when cruising.

I flew into Houston Hobby and we had a group going so we had a limo waiting to take us to our hotel in Galveston.
