Road to Galveston to be paved with delays

Headed to the beach this weekend? Beware the construction if you're going to Galveston.

Construction on the Gulf Freeway between NASA Road 1 and the Galveston County line at Clear Creek is expected to create lengthy delays for drivers for the next two weekends.

Work crews will be working on beams spanning over the freeway for the new ramps leading to and from the Gulf Freeway at the new NASA Road 1.
The southbound main lanes of Interstate 45 in that area will be closed from 4 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday. Two inside (or left) mainlanes northbound will also be closed.

All southbound traffic is being detoured to the frontage road; only one mainlane will be open northbound.
