Hotels with Free Parking in Galveston

Anyone know where we can stay in Galveston that has Free Parking? Or is there parking that is less expensive than the $60 covered parking at the terminal?

I stay at La Qunta/airport in Ft Lauderdale and I love it!! You can call and see if they have a shuttle to/from the pier. If they don't have a return shuttle, you can grab a cab!!
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

Glad to help!! I call the place direct and book on line direct!! Then I am talking to someone and get answers, and know what I am dealing with. In Lauderdale the La Quinta was $80 per night for a suite, free parking, free continental breakfast, and when you check in, there is a paper at the desk listing what time the free shuttle goes to the pier to your ship the next morning!!! We do pre and post, and that gives us 9 days. We take a van taxi back to the hotel and eat out and hang out at the pool. Very relaxing. We take our kids and grandkids, and there is a free shuttle to/from the airport!! They fly in, we drive over!!

Most of the hotels have precruise packages with transportation to the ship, and free parking while you are at sea. HOWEVER, there may be a minimum stay at the hotel of 2 or more nights. Also, some of the hotels that are very close to the pier do not offer transportation there. You have to call individual hotels. ALSO, they may only have a limited number of precruise package rooms, so you need to call early.

One place to look would be galveston.com There is another place I've used. I will look it up and post it here soon.

We stay each time at the Hotel Galvez which is a Wyndam hotel.........very nice but expensive, although you can sometimes get a good price using priceline........behind the hotel they have a secure parking lot where if you stay with them you can park free all week and use their shuttle to and from the port.. If you deduct out what you pay for parking......the room is not expensive and right on the waterfront of the Gulf.

Jim, thx for reminding me. The Hilton and the San Luis offer similar packages. The Hilton does have a lower prices than the others, but now has a 2 night minimum stay. These hotels are next to each other - they have the same owner. Can't speak for the San Luis, but the Hilton had us park in front of the San Luis - right near the seawall.

MC I have heard from other people using Priceline that have gotten the Galvez as low as $80 on a bid...........if you are lucky enough to do that...........that isn't bad with free parking for a week.

Thanks for the advice. We don't leave until Sept 2006 so I will check on the rooms and see if I can't get a good price.
