Ft Lauderdale Check-in / Security, what can I expect?

I am flying to Miami in March to join Queen Victoria in Ft Lauderdale, so I have a few questions about the terminal.

Cunard are providing the transport from the airport to the terminal, but will I have to deal with my luggage at Ft Lauderdale or will it be taken care of for me.

What are the facilities like in the terminals, how tight is the security?

If Cunard is providing for the luggage you should be okay. You will have to carry it through customs (always a joy) but I think Cunard will then load it on the bus to take you to Ft. Lauderdale. There you will probably have to walk it through to the loading of the ship. That should not be a problem, though. The guy on the bus takes your stuff and puts it on the curb. The guy from the ship takes it from the curb and puts it on their carts for taking to the ship.

At least this is how it was on our Noordam cruise two years ago. I don't think things have changed that much or are that different between Cunard and HAL.

Two years ago we had a few days around the Orlando area, then time in Daytona Beach, caught a coach, where this company runs from most major Florida towns and cities to both Miami and Port Everglades ports. We were the third stop of the coach in PE, driver took bags out of coach and attendant came and took our bags for the ship.
