Electronic Signs at Port Everglades help you cruise through terminal

New Signage Improves Guest Navigation at Port Everglades

A new electronic sign program at Port Everglades is helping guests better find their way to their cruise ships.

"The new directional signs are a direct response to those cruise guests who told us that they sometimes find it difficult to navigate their way through the Port on busy cruise days," said Port Everglades Director Phil Allen. "The sign program is another customer service feature that makes Port Everglades stand out from other cruise ports."

An independent traffic consultant was contracted to analyze cruise passenger traffic patterns within Port Everglades and design programmable, electronic signs that are easily identifiable and readable. As a result, new custom-designed Variable Message Signs, made by Daktronics, have been installed at the Port's 11 full-time cruise terminals and two parking garages. Larger signs greet guests at Port Everglades' three main entrances, providing ship names and cruise terminal locations in a rotating format. An estimated 25,000 linear feet of fiber optic cable allows Port personnel to control the electronic signs quickly with updated wording and helpful graphics.

Static, color-coded way-finding signs are also being installed throughout the Port to supplement the electronic signs.

Port Everglades is the cruise ship capital of the world with more than 3.4 million passengers expected during 2010 and more homeported cruise ships than any cruise port worldwide. Sixteen cruise lines and 49 cruise ships will sail from the South Florida seaport this season including: Carnival Cruise Lines, Celebration Cruise Line, Celebrity Cruises, Costa Cruise Lines, Cunard Line, Discovery Cruises, Hapag-Lloyd Cruises, Holland America Line, ISE (Institute for Shipboard Education), MSC Cruises, P&O Cruises, Princess Cruises, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Royal Caribbean International, Seabourn Cruise Line, and Silversea Cruises. The Port's ever-expanding fleet of cruise ships provides guests with an array of cruise vacation choices from the sunny Greater Fort Lauderdale area including everything from sampler-size day cruises to around-the-world cruises.

Oh, you are TOO funny, Joey!

I hope the signs do their job. A LOT of help is gonna be needed with the throngs that are going to be surging through that building for every cruise on the Oasis of the Seas!

When we were in FLL in October, our porter told us they have 39 porters at the oold terminal, and will hire 80 for the new one. He intended to stay at the old one...

On my recent 3 cruises from Port Everglades, the signage was very easy to read and it was easy to find the correct ship terminal.

Never a problem finding the right terminal there! Everything is very well marked.

PLEASE NOTE: When you park your car, be sure to jot down the Level and Section of where you parked.

We've seen lots of folks wandering around after cruises searching for their cars .....

Yes we do. We just figure that they are wrong most of the time.

Biggest problem I have found with the port is getting in. Security needs to be widened and the entry into the port has to be reworked. Using city roads the way they do, it can become a bit of a nightmare.
