We are a party of 6 returning to Port Everglades Sept 27th on the Carnival Miracle.

What is the best mode of transportation to get us to Frt Lauderdale Int'l airport?
Cab, Shuttle or should we arrange private transportation.
We will be doing the self disembarkation to get off the ship early.

I would say cab. There are plenty right outside the customs area. There are lots of shuttles also but it could be costly if you there are only 2 of you. Cab will be cheaper than private transportation too.

A cab will be faster and possibly cheaper. Just re-read your post and there are 6 of you, so you can try a shared van shuttle by Go Airport Shuttle. go-airportshuttle.com .

Cabs are relatively cheap and are very convenient. Two cabs will probably be as cheap as a shuttle van.

One thing I like to do is to stop at the Publix along the way and grab snacks for the plane ride. We usually start with a stop in the deli for one of their sandwiches.......

Something I usually do depending on when my flight leaves is rent a car and do some sightseeing. You would need a minivan but that might be a better choice than sitting at the airport for hours on end.
