Question Ft. Lauderdale Places to stay

Hello - Don't know if I'm posting this on the right board - but here goes. We are going on Costa Fortuna Cruise 2-3-08 and will be flying to Ft. Lauderdale the day before. Right now we have reservations made at the Ramada Inn Airport at a cost of $165 for one night with shuttle from airport to Ramada and from Ramada to port. We are thinking that's a little high - but higher price may be due to it being the month of February - or maybe inflation (11-06 overnight at Best Western cost around $100 for one night) . Any recommendations for other places to stay with shuttle services.

I like La Quinta Hollywood!! La Quinta Inn & Suites Fort Lauderdale Hotel - Airport

Hotel shuttle from airport, shuttle to pier, continental breakfast, and if you drive, parking, all of the above are free!~ Has a beautiful pool, gazebo, brick terraced table area!! This one is my favorite La Quinta!!
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

That's a bit steep for that hotel. We stayed there during the same time frame last year and with a shuttle to MIAMI it was only $139. Do you know if there is something going on then in either Miami or Ft. Lauderdale that would cause the prices to be higher? Convention or sporting event?

Here is a site to check for some other hotels---> Port Everglades Hotels By The Cruise Pier

$165 for the Ft. Lauderdale area is a very competitive price. With it including shuttle transfers it is a decent deal indeed.

I believe the Ramada on in the Southwest side of the airport. So, you are a fairly expensive taxi ride to "Ft. Lauderdale" downtown for an evening out. What are your plans for that evening? There is a great restaurant across the highway from your hotel. It is called Isla Morada and has some very good seafood.

Ask all the questions you can, because we have quite a diverse group of people that I believe can answer just about anything. And if no one has the answer immediately someone will know where to find it.

If I don't know the answer I'm fairly certain I can find it.

I stayed at the Embassy Suites (on 17th St) near the pier in FLL back in 2004 and with Shuttles from the Pier to Hotel then Hotel to Airport it was $115. Ijust checked you dates and they have doubled in price. But do a Hotels.com search or priceline.com search you'll get a better rate.

Fort Lauderdale Hotels are very expensive for what you get. Think about a dive in your hometown. In FLL that dive will cost at least $150.00 per night. FLL does not like cruise passengers. 3 years ago we stayed at a hotel for $65 with continental breakfast and free airport and ship shuttle. For our February 2008 the same hotel wants $237.00.

We always stay at La Quinta and have been satisfied. Most of the hotels mentioned above have gotten good reviews from what we have heard.

Guardia40, I can get you a room at Extended Stay America, Ft Lauderdale Convention Ctr. on SE 17th St Causeway, a much nicer facility than the Ramada you got and much closer to Port Everglades for $149.99. It's a Studio with 1 Queen bed.
Prices are high in Feburary, near the port, but I found the above to be the cheapest in the vicinity of the port.
