Only have 1 day in Ft. Lauderdale

What do you suggest we do if we have only 1 day in Fort Lauderdale. We have a group of approx. 30 people and alot of late teenagers-early 20's, 15 boys verses 5 girls. They want to see and do stuff before we cruise, but what?? Everyone is saying we'll do what ever the group wants, but no one really knows what their is to do. (some like shopping but the majority doesn't) I hate to say it but money is tight so your suggestions can't be costly. Would appreciate your help.

Hit the beaches! Thats free. And if you can, save up a little for shopping on Los Olas Blvd, or just window shop. Lots of cool stuff to see(and buy). I'm sure others will have more suggestions, so hang tough for some answers.

That is a large group to move around!!! If there is a pool at your hotel, I would hang out there and order in pizza, have a pool party!!
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

This is such a large group, that I think if you don't want to hang out at the beach or have a pool party as previously suggested, and you don't want to spend your money at Sawgrass Mills Mall or trendy Las Olas Blvd, you can take the kids to the Museum Of Science And Discovery, in downtown Ft Lauderdale, or stroll RiverWalk along the New River, and take in the shops there.
At the Sawgrass Mills mall, there's Wannado City, where the kids can see what Careers they can have and what and how they go about becoming a Pilot, etc. Spirit Airlines has a mockup of a MD-80 Jet, plus other stuff.

The suggests are great, keep them coming. The pool party we can have in California, I do like the beach suggestion, although the kids are worried about sharks.

Why not just have people go off and do things they want to do on their own? Could be that a few have a few bucks burning a hole in thier pocket and they may want to shop, others may not have extra to spend so perhaps they can just hang at the beach. Then some may just want to people watch, that is always fun. Remember you will have lots of quality together time while on the cruise, so if it was me I would do things on my own. The Riverwalk sounds like a nice thing to do. I have two days in Ft Lauderdale in January, maybe I should do that.

Great Idea!! Is the trolley that does tours running on Saturday? If not I'm thinking of sitting on the water taxi to see where we want to want around. Do we need a taxi, or can we get a bus from the Broward Mall to take us to Las Olas or to where the water taxi is?

From Broward Mall, take the Rte 22 Central Terminal bus to the Central Terminal (main bus terminal downtown) and connect to Rte 11 Copans Rd. Route 11 travels east on Las Olas Blvd from Andrews Ave to the beach, then heads north along the beach into Pompano Beach at Copans Rd and US 1.
