    Hotels in Fort lauderdale

    Hi Cruisers,

We are taking a cruise from Ft. Lauderdale in January and need a hotel/motel to stay in the night before. Can anybody recommend one that is convenient and maybe has a shuttle service to the cruise termainal ? We have never left from there before.

Over the years we have stayed many, many times both pre and post cruise at the Embassy Suites.

They have an airport shuttle and a shuttle that will take you to the pier. We have never had to pay for the shuttle to the pier -- not even this past Oct, but I have heard that some people said they had to pay.

At the end lof the cruise you will fin d plenty of taxis right outside the terminal to take you to either the airport or to a hotel. Word to the wise - if you are going to a hotel at the end of the cruise -- don't tell the taxi driver until you are in the taxi. They like the airport runs better because they can get a fare back to the pier after dropping off passengers at the airport.

I always stay at La Quinta Airport/Hollywood, close to the airport and pier, free breakfast and parking, free shuttle to the pier, clean and comfy!!

Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

Bummer Tony, you could save it if you ever sail out of Lauderdale again. I always book a year ahead and book La quinta 329 days in advance to be sure to get it!! It has a beautiful terrace area and pool, and a huge room for breakfast and a TV to watch. Very nice!! Also a close walk for dinner and malls!!

You might also want to try the La Quinta PLANTATION FL (Peters Road). We found a room there when the other was booked. It's only 11 miles from Port Everglades ....

Also, there's a nice list in the "Hotels" section here on CLF!

Yes, Taxi, but there are many more hotels nearer Port Everglades. La Quinta, Plantation is out in western Broward County, but it is linked by a major expressway, I-595, which takes you directly into the port.
In addition to Embassy Suites, there's AmeriSuites, Comfort Suites(1800 S Federal Hwy, Ft Laud.), Holiday Inn Express, Renaissance Hotel, Ft Lauderdale(across from the port), Sheraton Yankee Clipper, Mariott Harbor Beach, Best Western Oceanside Inn, and the Bahia Mar Hotel.
