We had a friend who took a 2 month cruise on a freighter. He loved it..just a handful of passengers and great food.

Rex, there are some incredible freighters out there..Aranui 3 is the most luxurious around and she does Tahiti. Her details and details of other ships and their itineraries can be found here.....you might be very surprised

Actually, it sounds interesting to me...

However, I'm pretty sure King George wouldn never go for it.

One thing that is guaranteed on a freighter cruise...

    NO MISSED PORTS!!!

The ship carries cargo that has to get to every port on the loadsheet, so it cannot miss a single port. The prices are alot cheaper and you can spend a few days or several months tramping around the world on everything from banana boats to containerships

I just looked at a few of the links and photos. I have to say, some of the cabins don't look too bad. But the exterior of the ships are sure ugly. They look like freighters!

But seriously, if it saved that much money it might be worth it to some people on really tight budgets.

One thing for sure, you're not going to have any Carnival dancing girls or hairy chest contests LOL.
