Char & MD11 .... Thanks! So sorry about his wife ....

Char, if you find any other later info, please do let us know. He seemed to be a very nice person. His wife as well to have encouraged to do something he'd always wished to do even though she couldn't go.

John is a dear friend, and moved this year from Florida to Maine to be near family!! He is a retired Navy man, and yes, his wife is incredible!! He loves her as much as the day he married her, if not more!! The freighter cruise was important to him for personal reasons, and he loved it!! Kathy has always encouraged him to do whatever meant a lot to him!! He is a big Teddy Bear!!
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

Am I missing something here? I went to some of the links, and still see prices of $100+++ per day???? At that rate, I can tell you I know every "secret" spot on "main line" ships, and always find a place to "hide" that is quiet..... And I get a doctor (thank you, never needed them but....), choice of foods (ok, not always great... but fine), shows (again not always....), and a drop in town with port services. Am I missing the "appeal" of this?

I think it's the adventure of it all. Pure adventure.

No I don't think you are missing anything, this simply does not appeal to you. It is not for everyone. It is just a differnt type of travel by ship, and might be a nice break from the conventional form of cruising.
