We're a family of four and most of the time we'll get two rooms (and most of the time they're not connecting). We enjoy it because it gives us more room. It also depends on how on the kids are. I guess that might make a difference.

When we cruise as a family, we take 2 rooms within close proximity of each other. I do insist that the boys (ages 17&13) cabin not have a balcony, so on our next family cruise they are in the interior cabin accross the hall from our balcony cabin. Besides being cheaper, it makes me feel more secure.
