    Kids Sail Free on NCL!!!

    This just in from NCL.

KIDS SAIL FREE ON NORWEGIAN CRUISE LINE

Norwegian Cruise Line invites kids (17 and younger) to sail free when their parents book a cruise from May 1 to 7, 2011. Parents can become their family’s “Vacation Hero” when booking their kids as third or fourth guests on select sailings fleet-wide for new reservations made by May 7, 2011. Families can have fun in the sun on a cruise getaway to the Bahamas, Bermuda, Hawai’i and the Caribbean or explore the rich history of Europe.

Norwegian’s array of Freestyle Cruising options gives families the flexibility to experience the vacation they’ve always wanted including family-friendly accommodations, a variety of entertainment and an array of dining options. On a Norwegian cruise, there are activities the whole family can enjoy including plunging waterslides, a two-story Wii wall and supervised kids and teens programs, so parents can enjoy time at the spa, gaming in the casino or even a romantic dinner for two. With so many dining choices even the most finicky eater will find plenty of options to satisfy their taste buds at the Kid’s Café on Norwegian Gem, Norwegian Jade, Norwegian Dawn, Norwegian Spirit, Norwegian Star, Pride of America, Norwegian Jewel and Norwegian Pearl.

Guests of all ages can enjoy Nickelodeon activities and shows on board Norwegian Jewel’s sailings from New York to the Bahamas & Florida or Norwegian Epic’s voyages to the Western Mediterranean from Barcelona or to the Caribbean from Miami. On these ships, there are signature Nickelodeon activities, popular characters and interactive game shows, such as Slime Time Live!, which the entire family can enjoy together. There is no shortage of family fun on board Norwegian Epic with its expansive Aqua Park featuring the three-story Epic Plunge; two-deck sports complex; and interactive children’s area, Recess.

To become your family’s “Vacation Hero” book a cruise with Norwegian by contacting your travel professional.

I don't know about all areas of the country. But that time of year is when state testing (that stupid Leave No Child Behind nonsense) in schools here in California. At least the second week of May here in LA, but schools like to have kids review the two weeks before (that's what my daughter's been doing the last few days, working on Algebra test problems). If that's the case for other school districts, it could explain a low number of families with school aged kids traveling at this time.

I think you're mis-reading this; it says that you have to book it between May 1 and May 7, not take the cruise between those dates.

that's better. Else most of the families that would be able to take this will have kids under 6.

Problem is that most of the cruises that are offering this special are when school is in session. Not only that, but they raised the rates before implementing this special.

Had a client yesterday ask me to reprice their cruise as this special affects them. I repriced it for the 4 of them and it was higher than what they originally paid! So it was cheaper to keep the rate they had than to get the kids sail free.

Just goes to show what we've said all along; sometimes what sounds like a great special really isn't.

All the more reason to stay off the ships during that time.....
