Thread: At what age do you feel your children should be before they have their own cabin?

    Again, personally I wouldn't leave chidren that age alone in a cabin, even if it's next to you, unless there's an adjoining door that you could keep open (most of the time). There have been emergencies onboard ships and also you have stewards that come in and out of the cabins.

    Our boys had their first room at 12 and 8. They were next door, although the cabins were not adjoining.

    We are letting our 12 and 10 yr old stay across the hall from us on our upcoming cruise in an inside cabin. The thought of all of us in 1 room and 1 shower was daunting. This way we have 2 showers, real beds and a bit more space. Some of the ships do not have connecting rooms only connecting balconies. I was not comfortable with the balcony idea. I was even contemplating borrowing a monitor so we could communicate with each other for safety.

    You know you could use babie monitors. They are small don't take up a lot of space. Also think they haveonce that operate on batteries.
