Do you get a list of the activities?

On the first day of your cruise, did you get a listing of the activities for your child's program? Was it a breakdown by day or even time period so your kid and you will know what to expect? And how changeable was the schedule? Which cruiseline was this on?

We have received a schedule breaking down the activities for the Pelicans or Pirateers (pre-tween to tween) on our three Princess cruises (with deviations every once in a while, probably due to number of kids showing up). I think we may have with Carnival. At least there was a schedule available, if I'm remembering correctly.

My friend who was on NCL America this summer says that there wasn't such a schedule for the kids' program. The last full night of the cruise, her daughter was in the kids' area and the counselor announced that they will have a pillow fight. The poor girl ended up with a broken arm. If the mother had known this was an activity, she would have kept her daughter with her.

We received them for Disney and Carnival. I have not been on NCL yet but in doing research I have seen scanned copies of one for NCL so I know they do have them.

Patty .... It's been a while for us with the children/teen program ... but, ours would get one every day on Princess along with the regular Patter.

Like your thoughts on having a "program for the cruise" that first day. Never remember getting anything like that for the children/teen program. Wish we had.

My grandchildren will be sailing RCCL this spring and it would be helpful for them.

I found some various programs for some of the ships' kids program, including NCL. What I'm wondering is how descriptive are they about the activities. Some things like "karoake" or "cookie decorating" are pretty self-explanatory. But others such as "games" won't provide too much info to parents (are they talking about board games, ball games, party games --Charades for example, physical games...

    Good thought!

Most of us sort of want to know what our children/grandchildren will be doing in advance. Also, it would help the children decide if they want to do it or not ....

We have been on NCL with our kids 4 times. When we registered our kids the first day of the cruise, we received a detailed list of the times and activities.

We knew about the pillow fight. It was the last night of the cruise and was a pajama party and pillow fight. Our kids look forward to that night in the Kids Crew every time we are on a cruise. On two occasions, the entertainers participated in the pillow fight.

Our kids have also had cookies with the captain as part of the Kids Crew activities. They really like to meet the captain and some of the other officers at that event.

I guess this won't bode well for my friend if this was listed in the program given to her. She says she didn't know about this.

I certainly will re-think the Pillow fight next summer given your friend's daughter and her broken arm! Yikes, that is not a good way to end a vacation.

We were also on NCL not NCLA. We have not been on the Hawaii ships so I do not know if they give out the schedules. I have heard that there is a big difference between NCL and NCLA but I do not know first hand.
