    teens

My husband & I are travelling w/ our 18yr. old daughter (grad trip) and 16 yr. old son. What type of attire is expected of a young man. He is set for the formal nights, however what look is in for teens, he is very athletic, however I have told him no "basketball" shorts. Any tips or pictures would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Teens all seem to dress the same anymore. I agree on the basketball shorts. Just regular clothes that they would wear to school or to a movie or the beach should do just fine. For the non-formal nights, I would suggest a pair of khaki type pants, like Dockers or equal with a shirt that is not emblazoned with sayings.
And I also welcome you aboard.

Our son has a suit he wears for formal nights and smart casual attire for other nights in the dining room - he doesn't mind since everyone else is like that too. He's 17.

Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

For hanging around the recreational areas and for ports I suggest what they are comfortable wearing. The dinning rooms for non formal nights a pair of slacks and not jeans. Most of the boys that hang around my daughter tend to have button up shirts that are casual. That works great.

Yeah my soon to be 13 year old hates to go to the diningroom due to having to wear slacks and a polo. You would think it would kill him. lol He has told me when we go on our short cruise in Feb he will eat somewhere else if they have a formal night. lol

As you have been told already, anyone can wear very casual clothes during the day. A guy may not be allowed in the diningroom with a sleeve tshirt on. We were headed out for a day at the beach and my DH had one on and he had to go back up and change. We did not realize his shirt was not allowed. It was not a bumming one either. It was brand new but still that was the rules. lol

At night slacks and a polo for guys and capris and a nice top is good enough for the evening. However, I have found I like to take dresses to wear. For some unknown reason I tend to gain weight while on a cruise and a dress is much more comfortable. lol

My sons had tan dress pants, a blue blazer and shirt and tie that we used for the formal nights and informal nights. They wore polos of button down shirts with dockers khaki's for casual nights, They were 14 and 18 at the time.
They seemed quite appropriately dressed and received many comments on how handsome they looked.

Basketball shorts are fine for a teen male in the daytime. The teens, male and female wore these along with tees, polos, jean, cargo and khaki shorts on my last cruise. Let him relax and be his self.

My DS(13) also lives in "basketball shorts" and t-shirts. It is fine during the day. He complains about having to dress up (collared shirt and dress pants) for dinner but loves to eat the food so he doesn't complain too long. I told him this year he could drop the dress pants and dress shoes since we are sailing on NCL and he could wear his jeans and good tennis shoes (with a collared shirt). This made him happy . DD(10), however, loves formal day and was disappointed that the rest of us didn't want to take anything formal. I told her she could still dress up as fancy as she wanted.
